Hair Prep Guide

So you've finally picked out a hairstyle and it's time to prep your hair for the 'do of your dreams. Whether you're the bride, a bridesmaid, or an attendee, here's some tips to help your hair look amazing for the big day!

Start with clean, dry hair! No need to make your hair extra dirty to hold. Oily, dirty hair actually does't hold any volume very well! There are amazing texture products that will help give some extra hold to your hair.

If you have an oily scalp or very fine, thin hair I would recommend shampooing the morning of so you are nice & fresh!  I recommend using very little conditioner on your ends and avoiding the root area.

If you have normal to dry hair, shampoo your hair the night before. I recommend a double shampoo for a super clean base! You can condition your ends as normal but try to avoid the root area.

If you have wavy to curly hair and want to wear your natural curl pattern or similar - you can air dry with your favorite products! If you'd like to wear a smoothed out curl or straight style, be mindful it will take more time during our session to change your curl pattern. I recommend a professional blowout the day before or day of to help with humidity protection worked in from the get-go. I've found this helps give the style longevity vs. just smoothing it out with an iron.

If you have an oily scalp or very fine, thin hair I would recommend shampooing the morning of so you are nice & fresh!  I recommend using very little conditioner on your ends and avoiding the root area.

If you have thin, fine hair I recommend using a volumizing or texturizing mousse, concentrated at the roots and worked out lightly through the ends. Blow-dry with a round brush or paddle brush, focusing on lifting the roots. You can flip your head upside down for extra volume!
